The APESB is supported by a small team of technical and administrative staff known as the "secretariat". The primary role of the secretariat is to oversee the drafting and development of relevant up-to-date professional and ethical standards for members of the profession and to provide administrative support to the Board.

Mr Channa Wijesinghe

Technical Director

Mr Channa Wijesinghe is a graduate of Monash University and holds a MBA from Deakin University. He is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). He has over ten years experience with two of the big four firms in Audit and Corporate Finance and was an Audit Director at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. His commercial experience includes two years with AGL where he was a member of the IFRS project team and was involved in IFRS implementation. Since joining the APESB in January 2007, he has been responsible for the development of the professional and ethical standards issued by the Board.

Mr Erik Hopp

Senior Project Manager

Mr Erik Hopp is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and Monash University. His tertiary education covers the disciplines of Accounting and Finance, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, and Information Technology. He has significant experience in both the public and private sectors and has advised on financial reporting, auditing, ethical and governance related issues. His career within the accounting profession includes roles with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, Deloitte, and CPA Australia.

Ms Rozelle Azad

Project Manager

Ms Rozelle Azad is a graduate of Monash University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Genetics and Physiology and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting). A chartered accountant, she spent six years in the Assurance and Advisory Service of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu working her way from analyst to client manager.
